An Update On the Publishing Process

Hey there,

Ok, alright, I know. It’s been like 8 months since my last post. Sorry! But I’m here with updates now so that’s got to count for something, right?

Basically, this year has been a roller coaster. I started my first year of university (which just ended a few days ago) and I took a small break from writing during this time. Small as in more than half the year… But I’m back on my grind now. If you don’t remember, I finished my first book in August of last year and started applying to literary agents all over the country. So far that venture has not been successful (Rejection is part of the process, right?). I think that I got a little discouraged from these rejections, mostly just non-replies, and that lead to my break from pursuing my goals.

Instead of giving up I decided that maybe I needed to improve my product and try again later. So that’s what I’ve done. I hired an editor to help me with my manuscript in hopes that this will improve my shot at scoring a literary agent.  Then this August I am going to attend something called the Pitch Slam in NYC, a convention where you pitch your book (and yourself) to agents and try to get an offer. This is my last shot at getting my first manuscript classically published and if this doesn’t work out I will go the self-publishing root.

Regardless of outcomes I can say that I have gave this my college try and put my heart into it. This summer I am going to work on my second book and try to get something done in the next few months. I’m still just fleshing out ideas, but I know I have a second book in me, and one after that. Story telling is something in my soul and I believe it is what I am meant to pursue, and I won’t quit till I meet my goals and get to where I am meant to go.

Good things are coming for all of us. Believe it.
Thanks for reading this update, I promise that there will be many more to come. 😊

Dream on,
Hallie
